Midlands Golf weekends
Play
two of the more unknown Golf Courses in the Natal Midlands. While the men are playing golf the ladies
will visit some extraordinary places and spend some hard-earned money.
They call it the Natal Midlands Meander. Natal
Midlands Meander is where you can visit
weavers, potters, woodcrafters, leather workers, artists, metalworkers, box
makers, wine farms, cheese makers and beer brewers. South Africa’s first, largest and
most popular art and crafts area. There
is too much to see for a weekend. The Midlands Meander extends over a distance of some
80 km’s between Pietermaritzburg and Mooi River and was started in 1983 by
several of the craftspeople who have long resided in the area as a way to
market their products, keep down their prices and allow visitors a glance at
their craft.
The tour normally starts in Pretoria where we leave at 13:00 on a Friday
afternoon. We travel to Nottingham Road where we will stay for the weekend at Otters’ Creek in their lovely wooden
houses tucked away in the forest. Before we book in, we will stop for dinner at
one of the lovely restaurants in the area.
Saturday morning the golfers will be dropped of at
Bosch Hoek Golf Course for an early tee off. The ladies will explore the area while the men struggle it out on the
golf course. The men will join the
ladies after golf and will then go to Rawson’s, the local beer Brewer for some
beer tasting and lunch. After lunch we
will visit the local shoe factory before we head for the showers and some time
out before dinner. Golf prize giving
will be at dinner.
On Sunday morning the men again will be dropped off at
the golf course, this time the very new, but excellent Gowrie Golf Course. The ladies again will have a last chance to
spend money before they join the men for lunch at the golf course. After lunch we will depart on our way back
home.
Currently the tour price is R3400 per couple (One
Golfer and one non golfer). Add R450 if
both are golfers. The tour price includes transport in a Luxury Sprinter bus,
non alcoholic drinks on bus while on route, accommodation, all meals, golf
fees, halfway house and prizes. Excluding are all drinks with meals or at any other stop over and all
personal purchases as well as caddy fees or golf cars.
