Southern Africa has some of the most spectacular scenic areas to be explored. During one of our many trips into the countryside, we decided that we want to spend the rest of our lives sharing this beauty and our deep love for nature and environment with other people.

The vision of Maranata Tours is not to become a huge touring/travel company with lots of tours and tour guides, but to offer a personal and professional service. All tours will be organised by ourselves and all 4x4 tours will be guided by myself personally. We can go into less frequently visited areas and experience more of the country and its people. In that way, we can share our love of Southern Africa with you. We can keep the groups smaller and more intimate, making sure we cater for you personally. For our bus tours we make use of hand picked guides that are best qualified for a specific area if we can not do it ourselves.

For our overseas visitors we have fully kitted 4x4 vehicles for hire through a 3rd party company. If you are not the adventurous type, we have a luxury bus that can accommodate up to 14 people. On our bus tours we only make use of 3 star and up accommodation and we have a driver and registered tour guide that will accompany you on your trip.

We can collect you at the airport on your arrival and see you off when you leave.

For the Family or for the Boys?

Whether you want to take your family on a luxury bus tour, an easy (4x2) self-drive guided trip or rough it out with the boys on a 4x4 tour, we can accommodate you. You can join us on one of our scheduled tours, or we can sit with you and plan a trip according to your desires (within limits of course). You can book a tour exclusively for your own group, or you can join an open tour and meet new people.

The Personal Touch

What makes a tour enjoyable? First on our list must be the "Destination". Well, of those we have plenty in Southern Africa. In the second place is "a Trouble free tour." Everything must run smooth and disasters must not be limited, they must be avoided. The third item is "Good Company". Each day starts with a group prayer and we end the day with Bible reading and prayer.

Location We cover areas such as Richtersveld, Lesotho, Venda, Kruger National Park, Pilanesberg, Garden Route, etc.

Trouble free tours Every tour is organised by ourselves. That is our promise. There are no secretaries, travel agents or third parties involved in setting up of tours. We study the area (History, Geology, Weather, Fauna & Flora, etc), the local rules, nearest hospitals/clinics for medical assistance and supply chains. We form agreements with locals for vehicle recovery (4x4 tours), passes and permits to cross tribal land, etc. The tour checklist of 100's of items is checked and re-checked several times. During the tour while you are relaxing with a snack and something to drink we are in contact with the next destination to check that everything is still in order.

Good Company

We start the tour with people we like most, ourselves. Our self drive tours are all radio connected so that we can communicate with all the vehicles during driving time. This social habit also has the benefit of allowing us to share information about the area that we are driving through. Our tours are planned that we arrive at our destinations early in order to enjoy the evenings in the great outdoors.( Sundown in the bush is one of Africa's greatest treasures). Several people have booked more tours with us, together with people they have met on our tours.
